Throughout my products, I wanted to showcase my band as very
dark and intense as this is a traditional convention in which heavy metal has
been associated to. I wanted to make the customer feel special when viewing any
of the products such as the digipak. I executed this by using the special
edition metal frame around the digipak, the magazine by having it very graphicy
and busy, and finally the music video itself which I wanted to showcase as a
professional piece to be shown on channels such as MTV.
I wanted to make the products first impressions to the
customer as something not so surprising, regarding conventions as I wanted the
customers to straight know what they were viewing which was a heavy metal
product and I executed this by using a very dark colour scheme and very intense
conventional heavy metal fonts.
I wanted to associate my band with the audience and did this
by giving my video a live feel to it. This was adapted from bands such as Memphis
may fire and parkway drive who showcase mostly performance which keeps the
video at high excitement for this target audience.
I adapted what our last night did with the two shots of the
performers. I used this idea throughout my digipak, magazine advert and some of
the music video shots.

Music video [Version 2] *FINAL*
*Feedback*
- Due to this release being after deadline for showcase, I had the idea of showcasing my music video onto Facebook and collecting results this way. Using Web 2.0 and this way feedback, I can get input by people on the internet and therefore have them becoming prosumers rather than just plain consuming passive viewers.
Music video [Version 2]
*This version was presented to a class of about 20 and it was in my power to choose four judges that would best judge my music video in relation to the genre and typical audience*
Feedback:
- Effects are conventional
- Excellent lighter shot
- Excellent fight sequence
- Excellent shot of boy singing into the mic
- Some drum sequences are good but go on for too long
- Editing is strong
- Some of the footage itself is what lets to music video down
- Lighting is great
- Narrative shots are great
- Performance shots go on for too long
- Performance shots require a live feel to them. This is not executed
- Nice use of opacity
- Could possibly use more people and therefore have more of a band
- The video seems too busy in places
- The flashing does not work in some places
- Some shots really work such as the performer singing into the microphone and the single drummer.
- The shots seem too long
- The music lets it down
- The idea fits well with the convention but maybe not done as well as it could be
- Really amazing editing, the beginning and ending shots with a lighter are really good.
*Examiners Mark = 24*
"Effects may be conventional but they are not being used selectively enough in my opinion - the video still feels too effects heavy. Where the video works well - the lighter shots/fight sequence and boy singing to microphone but editing doesn't match the pace of the song consistently - the video is let down by the actually footage itself - there is an attempts for effects to hide it but it feels more style over substance at the motion. Both ancillary tasks feel like an afterthought and they need to have original images so will need to be re-done."

- Photo itself is great
Music video [Version 1]
*THIS VERSION WAS PRESENTED TO TWO MEDIA STUDIES TEACHERS AND TWO MEMBERS OF THIS SONGS AUDIENCE*
Feedback:
- Pace of the music video was continues and did not match the song nor the typical convention (too slow).
- Editing was way too over used and made the music video look too much like a comic also decreasing visibility of what's going on, to minimum.
- Less opacity
- More flashing
- Quantity over length
- Out of sync in places
- Black and white fitted well
- Shots were good
- Song cover was fine
