[Task 7] Genre research

In this task I have explored the older and more traditional Heavy Metal music videos in comparison to the ones we see today. While doing this, I picked up on what makes a successful music video and how to make my video inspirational while also successful.

I have learnt that they are focused around performance and making the video seem live to the audience, this is something that I want to factor in when planning my video.

The camera shots are a very important factor and something I should consider as they are all very strictly similar throughout most heavy metal music videos and sub genres. These shots include a lack of movements and locations but rather close-ups of the lead singer, long shots of the band members and mid shots of the drummer. Furthermore, sudden flashes and fast cuts increase pace and intensity of the music videos. This is defiantly something I would consider when it comes to my own project.
